What is Happening in 2010 ?

2010 promises to be as exciting as 2009 was. We will kick-off the activities with a Black-Tie Masquerade Gala fundraiser  on February 13.
Events like this would not be possible without the generous time and talents of people like Fran Hultquist and David Evans. Their team of volunteers, make the Center's fundraisers special and productive.

May 14-15 we will once again be an active partner in the 4th Annual Walterboro Antiques, History & Ars Festival.

Our 2nd Folk-Life Festival will happen again. Last year Maree Dowdey, Tom Boozer, Elizabeth and Adeline Mazyck, Bubba O'Cain, James St. Clair and Mary Yougblood came to our aid at the last minute. Hopefully this year we can all start our plans a few months early!!

There will be an even stronger push this year for Art Education.
We have written a grant for funding for the restoration/renovation of the "Summer Kitchen" with the South Carolina  National Heritage Corridor. If we are awarded the funding we hope to start work in April. The facility will be used asa Artist Studio/ class room.
We will continue to work with the Colleton Museum's Super Saturday program as well as other events scheduled through the Colleton County schools.
In addition, Alta Mae Marvin has written a grant that will focus on High School students and the arts. This program would last a semester at the Artisans Center, ending with a reception showcasing the students finished works of art. We will be enlisting various artists to assist in the program to feature a wide range of mediums.
