WELCOME TO THE
SOUTH CAROLINA ARTISANS CENTER

The South Carolina Artisans Center is home to the most talented artists in the state. More than 270 juried artists have created works of exceptional quality in every medium. A visitor to the Center will find one-of-a-kind garden sculptures, loomed shawls, hand-made jewelry, photo-graphy and sweet grass baskets while discovering the southern charm of the town of Walterboro.
The Center promotes the creative works of the diverse South Carolina artisans in a complimentary setting of historic homes, tree-lined streets, museums, antique stores, and restaurants. A visit to the Center and town will be a memorable experience.
The objective of the Center is to promote and highlight the vast diversity of South Carolina artisans and to showcase Walterboro as a place to visit and shop.

To apply see "Call to Entry" page.
In order to be invited to become a South Carolina Artisans Center Guild artist you must:
- Be a legal resident of South Carolina.
- Be 18 years old.
- Be selected to participate through our two stage jury process.
The jury process is conducted once a year beginning in August and concluding in October.
At the first stage, digital images of (or pictures on CD) 5 pieces of work are submitted, along with a completed “Call for Entry” form, and a $25 jury fee. The images and entry form are submitted to 3 out-of-state master artists for evaluation. The judges evaluate the work based on creativity, originality, quality of work, suitability, and sales potential.
If the work receives a high enough score at this stage it goes to the second stage jury. The 3 second stage jurors are art experts from SC
(Although not Artisans Center artists!). At this stage the artists bring 5 pieces of their work to Walterboro where the work is judged. Immediately after the jury process is completed, artists with high enough scores are admitted to membership after paying a $50 yearly guild membership fee.
Call for Entry for 2010-2011 is close. New call will be called Aug 2011.
Please email the Center if you wish to be added to next years call.
